What does that entail, and, are there any individual benefits from recycling?

Many regions are implementing the three-bin waste system as a means to standardise recycling. This includes coloured waste bins that are specially dedicated to certain types of recyclable materials that people can utilise. There are green bins, yellow bins, and red recycle bins.

Green waste bins are well-known as being meant for organic garden waste, which can include lawn clippings, small branches, leaves and weeds, shredded paper, pizza boxes, paper towels, tissues, and literally any type of food (without plastic bags).

Yellow waste bins are for recyclable materials that will be repurposed, such as clean paper and cardboard, all types of magazines, junk mail, and newspapers. Glass jars and bottles, milk cartons, and metals objects such as empty aerosol cans, steel cans, aluminium cans and foil, rigid plastic containers (shampoo and detergent bottles), and plastic plant pots can be placed inside yellow waste bins.

However, not many people yet know what red recycling bins are used for?

What are Red Recycling Bins For?

Red recycling bins are for household rubbish that is not meant to go in either the green or yellow waste bins. General household rubbish such as clothing, rags, nappies, rope, soft plastics (plastics that do not hold their form when squeezed), plastic bags, polystyrene and foam packaging, garden hoses, rope, twine, foam, and any broken glassware and crockery.

Red recycling is a great way to clean your home of common household rubbish, and in doing so it helps to greatly reduce the amount of rubbish that ends up in Melbourne’s landfill each week. While ridding your home of rubbish using the three coloured waste bins helps to reduce the waste that ends up in landfills, there is a way you can make money in the process, by recycling scrap whitegoods for money.

Recycle Scrap Whitegoods for Money

Scrap whitegoods are unwanted household appliances, such as washing machines, dishwashers, dryers, stoves, microwave ovens, and refrigerators. Not including small electronic appliances like toasters, vacuum cleaners, irons, and pots. By selling scrap whitegoods for money, you are also helping to keep them out of landfills, as these could possibly be refurbished and used by others, such as washing machines and dryers.

You can sell your scrap whitegoods for cash at Melbourne Metal Recycling – an independently owned scrap metal recycler that buys and sells all grades of non-ferrous and ferrous scrap metal in Melbourne.

More and more people in Australia are aware about the importance of recycling and understand that doing their bit whenever possible can make a difference.
